Sweet handmade skirts for little girls.
My story:
I was raised on sweet tea and Jesus! Every stitch in my handmade items is inspired by a love that spans generations.
My mamaw (my late great-grandmother who used to give me sweet tea in my baby bottles) taught me how to love and serve Jesus and my family.
Mamaw was my hero, and she was everything that truly makes a woman beautiful. She always wore lovely, modest skirts and dresses. She sang Gospel songs as she selflessly worked in her home serving her family. She cooked and baked to make sure no one ever left her table hungry. And she sewed beautiful quilts and other lovely handmade items that are still treasured by her family and friends many years later.
I started learning to sew as a young teenager. I started out hand sewing and making small items I gave away as gifts. Later in my teens, I began learning machine sewing and enjoyed making skirts for myself. But as I got older and life got busier, I didn't take the time to keep sewing.
When I found out that my third child was going to be a little girl, I could think of no better name to give her than to name her after my sweet mamaw. And after being sorely disappointed in the baby & toddler girl clothes available in stores these days, I soon realized that if I wanted my daughter to have lovely, modest skirts to wear, I was going to need to get back to sewing!
I soon fell in love with making adorable, functional, comfortable, and modest little skirts for my sweet baby girl.
I could spend hours shopping for fabrics (I have amassed quite a large stash!). I love finding the most beautiful prints and solid colors and piecing together unique skirts. I also really enjoy being resourceful and creatively up-cycling other garments (like old t-shirts and tank tops) to make cute little skirts and jumpers.
This Etsy shop is truly something I have dreamed of since I was a girl.
When you purchase a beautiful handmade skirt from Sweet Tea Skirt Shop, you can know that every stitch was inspired by a sweet love that has spanned generations.
Hi! I'm Samantha, owner of Sweet Tea Skirt Shop.
I'm a blessed wife and mom of two boys and a girl. I love serving Jesus, loving my family, reading, sewing, blogging, singing Gospel music, playing piano, and (obviously!) drinking Southern sweet iced tea!
